About Holiday Calendar

No account, no app download, no subscription.
Here's what you can do with it:

Switch between countries instantly to see their official public holidays, bank holidays, and regional observances. Province-level detail for Canada, the US, Australia, and more.
Count days between dates
Click and drag across the calendar to select a date range. See exactly how many days remain until your next holiday, deadline, or event.
Every day has a sound
Click any date to hear its solfège tone: Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni. A small, delightful feature that makes the calendar slightly more alive.
Monthly birthstones
Each month features its traditional birthstone with its history, meaning, and fun facts. A small detail that makes the calendar worth revisiting.
Every year, millions of people search for something simple: "when is the next public holiday?" The answers are usually buried in slow, ad-heavy, hard-to-navigate websites. We wanted to build something different: a calendar that's actually pleasant to use.
This is also a project about the world's diversity of celebrations. From Japan's Golden Week to India's festival calendar to the UK's bank holidays, each country's public holidays reflect its history, religion, and values. We find that genuinely interesting, and we hope the calendar makes it a little easier to notice.
Where our data comes from
Public Holidays: Official Government Sources
All public holidays are sourced from official government declarations via Nager.Date, an open-source project that aggregates government-published holiday data for 100+ countries. Each country's holidays trace back to a primary government source:
Holidays labelled Public are officially government-declared holidays. Regional and optional holidays are also shown where available, clearly labelled.
Hindu Panchang: Astronomical Calculation
The Hindu calendar data (Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, Rahu Kaal, Vikram Samvat) is computed using astronomical mean planetary positions, following traditional Drikpanchang methodology rooted in Surya Siddhanta principles. Moon sidereal longitude is derived from the Sun's position plus synodic elongation from a verified reference epoch (January 6, 2000). Results are approximate and may vary from printed almanacs by one tithi for edge-of-day transitions. For precise muhurta or ritual timing, consult a qualified Jyotishi or a regional printed Panchang.
Cultural Festivals: Researched Dates
Festival dates for Islamic, Jewish, Chinese, Buddhist, Sikh, Celtic, and Secular traditions are researched from official and authoritative sources. Islamic dates (Eid, Ramadan) are approximate and subject to official moon sighting declarations. Jewish holidays follow the Hebrew calendar algorithm. Chinese New Year and lunar festivals use the Chinese lunisolar calendar. All variable-date festivals are clearly labelled as approximate.
School Calendars: Official Board Websites
School term dates are sourced from official education authority websites: UK Department for Education, NYC Department of Education, Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), Texas Education Agency (TEA), Florida Department of Education, NSW Department of Education, Ontario Ministry of Education, CBSE (India), Maharashtra State Board (MSBSHSE), and Tamil Nadu State Board (TNSCERT). Dates may vary slightly by individual school.
